The Spatial and Urban Development Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, aiming to promote Georgia's sustainable development, is initiating the elaboration of basic-thematic plans for municipalities that currently lack spatial or urban plans.
The basic-thematic plan will serve as a temporary, transitional planning document. Until full spatial or urban plans are approved, it will act as a guiding framework for the balanced and sustainable development of municipal territories, serving to prevent chaotic urban sprawl and ensure the rational use of land resources. Furthermore, the document will establish the essential prerequisites for the subsequent development of comprehensive spatial and urban plans for the municipality.
Samtredia will be among the first municipalities in the country for which a basic-thematic plan for sustainable development will be prepared. The document will be developed by the design company "City Institute Georgia".
